Free Event - As part of the El Paso History Museum’s Chicano Power! exhibition, we invite the community to our “Borderland Chicano Community Roundtable: Resistance Then and Now.” This event brings together borderlands scholars and community leaders to speak and take questions from the community as part of a special plática that hopes to connect past movements with current social justice campaigns. Guided by both local and visiting scholars, artists, and activists, this event encourages the public to learn more about the history of the Chicano civil rights movement in juxtaposition to current events and ongoing struggles for civil rights locally and across the nation. During this informal roundtable, community members will be encouraged to share their own experiences and ask questions while being invited to engage in dialogue surrounding the exhibition.
The roundtable will be live streamed and uploaded on the museum’s Facebook page via /EPMuseumofHistory so that audiences may access the conversation after the event.
