End Date: Feb 16, 2022
From: 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Join us for our upcoming Merienda Talk as we come together to discuss the importance of community archives and personal histories in telling the story of our region. Abbie Weiser (UTEP Special Collections) and Claudia Ramirez (El Paso Public Library Border Heritage Center) will join EPMH Digital Wall Administrator, Stephanie Gardea to explore with attendees the role of community memory in historical narratives as well as how to use local archival resources to research personal and regional histories. Participants will also learn more about preserving their own histories and will be encouraged to reflect on and share their experiences in response to guided prompts.

As part of our ongoing DIGIE month programming, attendees will also have the opportunity to scan photos to be uploaded to the DIGIE wall with the assistance of EPMH staff (maximum five photos per person to be scanned).

About DIGIE
DIGIE (Digital Information Gateway In El Paso) is the family friendly name chosen for the 2012 Quality of Life Bond project once referred to as the Digital Wall. DIGIE, the enormous technological wonder, has been constructed at the entrance to the El Paso Museum of History in Cleveland Square. Its vast collection of images, nearly half of which have been uploaded by the public, creates a unifying personal pride in our community.

About Merienda Talks
Merienda Talks are a free ongoing series at the El Paso Museum of History that explore current exhibits through informal conversation with experts. In Mexico, “merienda” is a time to share conversation with friends over a bite to eat. In the spirit of merienda, our talks bring the public and professionals together to discover exhibits through discussion.
