Introducing Merienda Talks! Merienda Talks are a new, ongoing lecture series taking place select afternoons at the El Paso Museum of History. Merienda Talks are casual discussions led by an expert that center on current exhibits. The talks are accompanied by light refreshments.

Our first Merienda Talk focuses on our recently opened exhibit "The Devil You Say!: The Saintly and Not So Saintly in Folk Art." The talk will be led by collector and scholar Michael T. Ricker, whose personal collection makes up the exhibit. The exhibit highlights the duality of the Christian concept of Good versus Evil and features centuries of creativity from cultures across the world.

Following the event at the Museum of History, guests can cross the street to the El Paso Museum of Art, where Ricker will be discussing the "El Taller de Gráfica Popular" exhibition currently on view at EPMA. This collection of prints, posters, and leaflets were created by influential Mexican artists through the Taller de Gráfica workshop, an artist collective active during Mexico's post-revolutionary years. The works highlight the importance of political activism through an artistic lens. A live printmaking workshop will precede and follow the discussion. With light refreshments and music.
