Join the El Paso Museum of History for the opening of its new exhibition, Frontera Esoterica: An Insight into Curanderismo, Brujería, and Mysticism, Saturday September 26, 2026 from 3-5 pm.

The new exhibition will explore the history of curanderismo (holistic healing) and brujería (folk magic) as well as the global fascination at the turn of the 19th to 20th centuries with mysticism and the divine.

Opening festivities will include light refreshments, hands-on activities and dance performances.

Admission is Free to attend and museum is open until 6pm.

Frontera Esoterica delves into the Paso del Norte’s connection to folk magic and spirituality through regional art, artifacts, herbs, and mystical ephemera to bring to life more than a hundred year of spiritual trends, and non-western healing. This examination encompasses the wide range of spiritual and medicinal customs in Mexico and this region, that combine African, European, Asian, and traditions rooted in the Indigenous Americas, set amidst the background of the Chihuahuan desert.

Historical highlights will feature, folk figures like Teresa Urrea and Don Pedrito Jaramillo alongside the stories of local families and individuals who have practiced these traditions for generations.

Original artwork will be featured from artists such as David Gremard Romero, Gustavo Marquez, Ome Tlaloc, and more.
